Taung Gold is a gold developer, founded and incorporated in South Africa in 2004 by mining entrepreneurs Dr David Twist and Rudolph de Bruin. The company's fundamental strategy remains to acquire gold properties that have the potential to be developed into world-class operating mines.
Tung Yee Shing (Dave)
Chief Financial Officer
Dave holds a Bachelor of Social Science degree in Economics and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
He is a member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. Prior to joining the company he was an Executive Director of Green International Limited (Stock code: 2700) and the CFO of Zhidao International (Holdings) Limited (Stock code: 1220).
He is currently the Chairman of the Board and CEO of Zhidao, both companies are listed on the main board of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong.
Ms. Wong Pui Yee (Anfield)
Anfield was appointed as Company Secretary with effect from 1 October 2015. She joined the company in 2011 as an Assistant Company Secretary.
She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography and Resources Management from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and a Master of Laws (Chinese law) from the Renmin University of China.
She is an associate member of both The Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries and The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators in the United Kingdom.
Company Secretary for Taung Gold (Pty) Ltd
Sebastian has both a Bachelor and Master of Laws degree from the University of the Witwatersrand specialising in corporate, securities, banking and finance law.
He oversees the regulatory compliance and corporate governance aspects of the company’s operations in South Africa, and has experience in acquisitions, unbundling, due diligence and capital raisings for private and public companies.
Sebastian has been involved in many capital raisings in the junior minerals sector and is also a director of two privately held minerals companies. He has significant experience in the junior mining sector including: international reporting standards for mineral resources, environmental management and corporate social responsibility. He joined Taung Gold in 2009.
Ms. Annelise Barradale
Executive - legal
Annelise is a dual South African and United Kingdom, qualified corporate lawyer. Annelise articled with Webber Wentzel, a leading international law firm in Johannesburg, South Africa, where she gained experience working in the specialist mining and minerals department.
Annelise then worked for Fasken Martineau, a leading Canadian international law firm, as well a leading law firm in London, on a number of international equity capital markets transactions and mergers and acquisitions in the energy and resources sector.
Annelise has been with Taung Gold (Pty) Limited since 2009 and was closely involved in the substantial acquisition of Taung Gold (Pty) Limited by Wing Hing International Holdings, now Taung Gold International Limited, in 2011.
Jacques du Plessis
Executive - Mining and Projects
Jacques is the executive responsible for the company’s mining and projects, as well as for health, safety and environmental matters at its various sites. He also oversees all project work for the group’s gold assets.
He has a career spanning 38 years, previously as a manager at various mining companies including Gold Fields of South Africa, Gencor and Billiton. He also was a Managing Director of RUC, the mining contracting division of Murray & Roberts, before its merger with Cementation Mining where he was primarily involved in project execution and shaft sinking.
Jacques graduated from the University of Pretoria in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering; he then obtained his Mine Managers Certificate of Competency for Metalliferous Mines in 1984 and an MBA from the University of the Northwest in 1995.
He has been involved in the planning and design of underground mining projects for the last 10 years, with a particular focus on underground gold mines.
Andre du Plessis
Executive – Mineral Resources
Andre holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology and Soil Science and a Graduate Diploma in Water Management. He started his career as a mine geologist at Anglo American Corporation’s Vaal Reefs gold mine in 1981 until 1998 when he joined African Rainbow Minerals as the company’s chief geologist and a member of the Business Engineering Unit conducting feasibility studies on potential acquisitions.
From 2002 to August 2003, Andre was the Chief Geologist at Modikwa Platinum Mine, after which he became the Managing Director of ITEC Project Impact (Pty) Limited and consultant in providing services relating to geological, hydrological and mineral resource management.
He joined Platinum Group Metals (Pty) Limited as a Project Manager in 2006 and subsequently joined Taung Gold in 2007 and is responsible for mineral resource management.
Executive – Commercial
Peter holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economic History and Legal Theory and a Bachelor of Laws degree from Rhodes University. He also obtained a higher diploma in Labour Law from the University of Johannesburg (formerly Rand Afrikaans University).
Upon completion of his articles, Peter joined British American Tobacco in 1990 as head of their legal department and assistant public affairs manager, before joining a division of Anglo Vaal Industries in 1995 as head of their legal division.
During his 12 years with these two companies Peter dealt primarily with mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, litigation and public affairs. In 2001, he took up the position of commercial manager for Anglo American’s base metal division (Africa), and was entrusted with negotiating the acquisition of base metal projects across the continent.
Following a shift of focus within global exploration at Anglo American in May 2007 he joined Taung Gold as Chief Operating Officer (legal). Peter was instrumental in negotiating the acquisition of the Company’s two flagship projects, Evander and Jeanette, and oversees mineral rights and commercial matters.
Chief Financial Officer for Taung Gold (Pty) Limited
Steven joined the South African Revenue Services for two years in 1990 before being appointed as a practicing assistant in a private auditing practice.
From 1995 to 1998 he was financial manager with two different companies and re-joined private practice in 1998. He was appointed as director in 2000 and performed the role of auditor of a number of listed companies between 2000 and 2007. Steven joined Taung Gold in 2007.
He graduated from the University of Pretoria in 1988 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, and received a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from the University of South Africa in 1990. He qualified as a chartered accountant in 1991.
Evander consists of two adjacent properties, No. 6 Shaft and Twistdraai, located within the eastern Evander goldfield area.
