Mr Dave Tung Yee Shing
Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary
Dave holds a Bachelor of Social Science degree in Economics and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is a member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. Prior to joining the Company, he was Executive Director of Green International Limited and the CFO of Zhidao International Limited. He is currently the Chairman of the Board and CEO of Zhidao, both companies being listed on the main board of The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong.
Mr Sebastian Chatov
Company Secretary – Taung Gold (Pty) Limited
Sebastian has both a Bachelor and Master of Law degree from the University of the Witwatersrand specialising in corporate, securities, banking and finance law. He oversees the regulatory compliance and corporate governance aspects of the Company’s operations in South Africa, and has experience in acquisitions, unbundling, due diligence and capital raisings for private and public companies. Sebastian has been involved in many capital raisings in the junior minerals sector and is also a director of two privately-held minerals companies. He has significant experience in the junior mining sector including international reporting standards for mineral resources, environmental management and corporate social responsibility. He joined Taung Gold (Pty) Limited in 2009.
Mr Jacques du Plessis
Executive – Mining and Projects
Jacques is the Executive responsible for the Company’s mining and projects, as well as health, safety and environmental matters at various sites. He also oversees all project work for the Group’s gold assets. He has a career spanning 38 years, previously as a manager at various mining companies including Gold Fields of South Africa, Gencor and BHP Billiton. He also was a managing director of RUC, the mining contracting division of Murray & Roberts, before its merger with Cementation Mining where he was primarily involved in project execution and shaft sinking. Jacques graduated from the University of Pretoria in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering, then obtained his Mine Managers Certificate of Competency for Metalliferous Mines in 1984 and an MBA from the University of the North-West in 1995. He has been involved in the planning and design of underground mining projects for the last 10 years, with a particular focus on underground gold mines.
Mr Andre du Plessis
Executive – Mineral Resources
Andre holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology and Soil Science and a graduate diploma in Water Management. He started his career as a mine geologist at Anglo American Corporation’s Vaal Reefs gold mine in 1981 until 1998 when he joined African Rainbow Minerals as the company’s chief geologist and a member of the Business Engineering Unit conducting feasibility studies on potential acquisitions. From 2002 to August 2003, Andre was the chief geologist at Modikwa Platinum Mine, after which he became the managing director of ITEC Project Impact Limited and consultant in providing services relating to geological, hydrological and mineral resource management. Andre joined Platinum Group Metals Limited as project manager in 2006. He subsequently joined Taung Gold in 2007 where he is responsible for mineral resource management.
Mr Peter Warring
Executive – Commercial
Peter holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economic History and Legal Theory and a Bachelor of Law degree from Rhodes University. He also obtained a higher diploma in Labour Law from the University of Johannesburg. Upon completion of his articles, Peter joined British American Tobacco in 1990 as head of their legal department and assistant public affairs manager and after that, he joined a division of Anglo Vaal Industries in 1995 as head of their legal division. During his 12 years with these two companies Peter dealt primarily with mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, litigation and public affairs. In 2001, he took up the position of commercial manager for Anglo American’s base metal division (Africa), and was entrusted with negotiating the acquisition of base metal projects across the continent. Following a shift of focus within global exploration at Anglo American, he joined Taung Gold in May 2007 as Chief Operating Officer (legal). Peter was instrumental in negotiating the acquisition of the Company’s two flagship projects, Evander and Jeanette, and oversees mineral rights and commercial matters.
